As a nation, it’s time to begin again;
what was appears to have come to an end.
A message was heard on Election Day;
the voices of the people were strong to say
corruption and power have no right to rule;
we will not be treated like innocent fools.
We demand of those who lead this land
integrity, justice and an honest hand
that reaches out to everyone,
not just the favored, privileged ones
who flaunt the law and deny the rights
of those who dare to shine a light
on the criminal actions of “wantabe” kings.
Their corruption and greed consistently bring
suffering and pain to those who dare
to demand what is just, honest and fair.
Yes, the time has come for strong voices to say:
we will not live corruption’s way.
We reaffirm our allegiance to all that is true,
not as partisan politicians would do.
The days of lies and fraud are past;
but the lessons we’ve learned will certainly last
as reminders and warnings of a distant day
when evil attempted to have its way,
but was forced to concede and slither away
to wait in the shadows for another day.
